While retail merchandising has reached to the heights through eCommerce and social media, very little can be said about the wholesalers in this area. Most wholesalers who deal in sports merchandise either don’t have a brand or they have a hard time finding distribution channels. Large size retailers today already act as wholesalers in many cases. It leaves very little options for the traditional wholesalers who find it hard to secure bulk orders. Wholesalers who want to become retailers have a lot to invest in marketing and the competition in the retail business is tough.

Shockfruit is also conceived to support the manufacturers. We want to give manufacturers an online space for putting up their products at factory prices. Retailers can only purchase orders from manufacturers and wholesalers on Shockfruit. We did not want to make it into an eCommerce site but rather it is an online lead generation platform. Once we receive orders from corporate buyers, retailers and other bulk buyers, we forward those orders to the manufacturers and wholesalers on our list. They can bid on the orders as per their margins and send their quotations directly to those who placed the orders.

Corporate buyers of bulk merchandise may include sports clubs, associations, agencies, training institutions, schools and colleges. We are lucky to be in a world where sports is taken seriously and is given its due encouragement. It is a youthful business and a very positive one too.
